Full disclaimer, I have not purchased this product. I've been breeding roaches and crickets for years and just like looking at different setups.While this is cute and might work for catch and release pet bugs, there's no possible way for it to work as a breeding enclosure. Or even a long time habitate. A bug would only live a day or two kept in this.Crickets lay their eggs in soft soil or foam if you use that to hydrate them. (Crickets will drown in a raindrop.) They do not lay eggs in or on wood. They don't lay eggs in the open air. Males will also eat the eggs if females can't hide the eggs from them. So your chance of producing babies in this "decorative breeding box" are zero.And I would be very surprised if these wooden slats we're close enough together to keep an adult cricket contained. They can and will squeeze through very tiny spaces if they want out.Baby crickets that are known as pinheads because they are the size of a pin's head. 20+ newly hatched crickets would fit on the surface of a dime. You need a solid glass or plastic tub for breeding crickets. With the proper setup it's not hard. This product is not the proper set up.It looks to be decorative use only. Or for bugs you want to look at for a day then let go in the evening. Only fake plastic bugs would thrive in this.
