Simple instructions to follow and all you need is the small philips head screwdriver that comes with the kit. There is a removable tray you can place in the center to catch some droppings. I used newspaper over top of the tray and the birds did not care for its shininess.Bought so the birds could join us in the living room and they took to it right away. I was slightly concerned that the dowels were too broad for a small bird like a budgerigar, but they had no issue with that.I will say the food bowl situation is a little cumbersome to set up, but that for me was an extra. Overall very pleased because my birds are pleased.
